San Francisco, CA. In-Home Newborn Session

We have a lot of preconceived notions of what taking professional photos is - and a lot of it is the trauma of taking school photos in 7th grade. The horror. 🥴

Most of you know this but my style of photography is not “sit still, sit up straight, SMILE.” It’s a day in the life, it’s “you don’t even need to look at me”, it’s “love on your baby” or just look at each other.

The biggest compliment is when a participant who I already know is shy, introverted or hates taking photos will share something like this after a session: “Thank you so much, you made this so easy. I thought this was going to be horrible but I actually had fun.”

This was the exact experience I had with Poonam and Rick. Rick is not a photo lover. Sure, he likes to have the images when they are done but his wife said he truly doesn’t enjoy the act of being photographed. And who can blame him? It’s SO hard to model! Not to mention, a bit scary and exposing.

I kept Rick’s feelings in mind our whole session and at the end when he was walking me out to told me how grateful he felt for the ease of the experience. He was so genuinely kind and grateful and said I made the whole morning so easy.

This is my goal forever & always and I absolutely love changing minds and shifting those stereotypes! ❤️

ps - Their newborn session was an absolute delight. Poonam’s dresses and outfits were perfection and their San Francisco home had some really beautiful light! So thrilled for these two young parents and their sweet boy.
